What kind of system is the NetShade Proxy server?
An AMD-based dedicated Linux box running in a U.S. datacenter. A very solid and stalwart
machine over the past 3+ years. Its decommissioning may be coming shortly, in favor of
a bigger, newer replacement.
Update 5/11/08
The bigger, newer replacement server has come. NetShade is now running on an entirely new
server with an unmetered 100mbps link. This should provide enough bandwidth to carry
NetShade well into the future. The new server is an Intel-based powerhouse running Linux
(CentOS) and the Squid proxy server.
