How it works
TextShade is a Mac app. Type or paste your text into the top part of the window, enter a password, and the encrypted message shows up in the bottom part of the window. Decrypting a message is just as easy—just paste the message into the bottom part of the window.
Free online decryption
Send encrypted TextShade messages to people over E-Mail or IM. As long as your recipient knows the password, they can decrypt your message either via the TextShade app or the free online decryptor.
Images and Rich Text
TextShade can optionally encrypt messages as Rich Text, allowing for custom fonts, hyperlinks and inline images.
How secure is it?
TextShade messages are encrypted with AES, using a 256-bit key. This is one of the few encryption schemes approved by the US government for use on Top Secret data. We’d go on about the virtues of AES encryption, but that’s about as strong an endorsement as there is!
